Best day ever.

HISTORY
Four years ago I met someone through an online dating app, and my opening message to her was “I see from your list of questons that you like board games. What kind of games do you play?“
Two days ago, we got married.
Our love for playing board games together is still as strong as ever and, because of this, we knew that board games would have to play a part in our day. Not only are we gamers, but most of our friends and family are too.

COUNTING DOWN
From the beginning of the planning, everything we did had something board gaming related mixed in if we could. We wanted ourselves and our guests playing games on the day. The cake would include dice. The seating plan and centre pieces would have something to match the theme.
And it was those centre pieces that were my sole responsibility. With the help of a good friend we came up with the plan to use classic board game components and assign a game to each table. I stressed over the whole thing for months, but on the day my now brother-in-law and two nephews came up trumps and managed to translate my ideas better than I could have hoped.

PADDING THE COLLECTION
Of course with our large collection of board games you’d think we’d have the event covered. But games, especially those over a four player count, were missing. So over the last ten months, purchases were made, and a nice little collection of games for the wedding guests has grown nicely.
And we used every oppourtunity at family gatherings and events to trial them out so that we knew we’d have something for everyone.
Of course, being our wedding meant that we didn’t get as much time to enjoy the gaming as much as we’d have liked. I ended up with one play of UNSTABLE UNICORNS and one play of FUN FACTS under my belt. But seieng others gather round table and enjoy them was almost as good.

THE BIG DAY
As for the day itself?
Absoloutley amazing. Dispite some nerves from me that might have caused my vows to take a little longer to read than I’d planned, it was a perfect day with our closest friends and family, and the woman of my dreams.

I now have my Player-2 for the rest of my life and I couldn’t be happier.
