In this Roll ‘n’ Write game, players are a band touring the United States of America
Each turn two D10’s are rolled and both combinations (for example a 2 and a 7 make 27 and 72) are entered into two locations around your map board.
The aim is to run a continuous line at the end of the game from the lowest number to the highest that will represent the route your band’s tour has taken.
Sounds simple. But of course dice are involved, so things are going to get stressful.
🎲
This is one of those ‘fun’ games like CALICO that starts out mostly relaxing due to the amount of freedom you have. But a frivolous placement early on can (and will) come back to haunt you in the late game when placement gets a little difficult meaning compromises must be made.
When you choose where to place your numbers, cards revealed at the start of the turn will force a limitation as to which regions you can go in.
Not only do these cards reduce your possibilities, but they also dangle a points carrot if you can fill in the specific city on the card you’ve chosen.
The promise of reward will lure you in and then laugh at you several turns later when greed is revealed to be your downfall.
🎲
I’d have been content to just own the USA map, but the 2nd Edition comes with a European map on the reverse.
The boards themselves pop with colour, as do the rather large region cards.
The Dice are a little disappointing, despite being quite chunky. I added the Rock ‘n’ Roll gold glitter ones to my pledge when backing and they are much more fit for purpose.

Overall ON TOUR is a great little Roll ‘n’ Write that will have you cursing the dice and scratching your head in the last few turns. The board can get busy and mistakes might be made, but it’s a great feeling in games when you get a nice streak of consecutive numbers, despite the odds.
