ROLL FOR IT! is one of the simpler games in our collection. It’s because of this that it’s easy to teach to anyone. Age and ability don’t matter, because five minutes in, every player is cursing their dice and begging for specific numbers to roll.
Each player takes a turn to roll their dice and then places the results against any of the matching faces on the three cards available.
You place those dice and they are then lost to you until a) you complete the rest of the card on another turn with your remaining dice, b) someone else completes the card before you, or c) you claim all your dice back.
And that’s it. Cards are worth more points based on the difficulty to obtain them (lowest is 2, highest is 15).
First player to hit or cross 40 points wins the game.
Sure, it’s simple. But it’s fun. A lot of fun. One of my groups used to have it as the opener at every session. It was the relaxing starting event while food was shared out and everyone caught up.
ROLL FOR IT! isn’t a game where turns take forever because players over think.
I mean sure, there is a little bit of tactical thinking when you decide where to commit based on the cards available and what other players of doing. But it’s still seconds per turn.
Every collection needs games like these to open a games night, or to cleanse the pallete after something deep and crunchy. And ROLL FOR IT! is one of the best for that.
Obviously, there are negatives. If you don’t like to lose because the dice didn’t roll your way, then this game may infuriate you. It’s 90% luck.
And it plays 2-4 in one box, with extra dice and cards being available in a second set to take it to 8. There is a Deluxe version to get it all in one box, but I think that should just be the standard.

ROLL FOR IT is that little bit of brainless fun where people roll dice and everyone gets tense when you all need a 1 to win!!! Will never leave my collection.
